Un Canadien Errant

Hello, again.

I hope all is well with you.

In early days, I always found an outlet for music while working at my day job. My first piano solo recording was made then, my version of Un Canadien Errant. Later, when doing some entertaining in Europe, I would always end my gig with this tune.

The tune already existed before 1842, when Antoine Gérin-Lajoie wrote the poem that gave it its name. The poem centred around the emotions of being in exile after the 1837-1838 rebellions in Canada.

In 2014, Deborah Quigley, Brian Gagnon and I added accompaniment to that early piano recording. This is the combination of that first recording and the recent accompaniment. The combined recordings are over 30 years apart, so please allow for the differences in technology!

Enjoy Un Canadien Errant. Keep well and stay home.
